What is eVisa?
The Myanmar eVisa is a new type of visa issued by the government of Myanmar. This electronic visa system was established on 1st September 2014 to accelerate the visa application process and to support the development of Myanmar’s tourism industry. With this visa policy, Tourist e-Visas and Business e-Visas have been issued electronically. Citizens of eligible countries can use these visas to travel to Myanmar for tourism or regular business meetings. Those traveling to Myanmar for other reasons should visit the nearest Myanmar embassy in their home country to apply for a regular visa.
The e-visa for Myanmar can be applied online through the website of Myanmar Immigration Services. The process typically involves filling out an application form, submitting the required documents, and paying the visa fee online. Once approved, the e-visa is electronically linked to your passport. With a valid e-visa, you can enter Myanmar through 3 designated airports and 3 land border checkpoints. From the date it has been issued, the e-visa has a validity of up to 90 days, allowing its holders to stay in Myanmar for 28 days or 70 days. However, it’s worth noting that it is issued a single entry, so you need to obtain a new visa in case you wish to return to the country.
